Randy Duane Couture was born June 22, 1963 and is a Greco Roman Wrestler and successful professional mixed martial arts fighter. Couture is currently the UFC Heavyweight Champion and an elected member of the UFC Hall of Fame. Couture is the only athlete to have held championship titles in both the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Couture, along with Robert Follis, were the lead team members of Team Quest, a camp of MMA fighters based out of Gresham, Oregon. In 2005, Courture relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he currently resides. Couture separated from Team Quest recently and opened LEGENDS Gym, a Mixed Martial Arts gym in Hollywood California with friend and business partner Bas Rutten. Bas Rutten, another Mixed Martial Arts legend, is partnered in LEGENDS with Couture, the World Fighting Alliance (WFA), and the Los Angeles’ Bomb Squad gym.

Couture lived in Corvallis, Oregon during most of his professional MMA career. He also severed as an assistant strength and conditions and wresting coach for Oregon State University. Couture’s signature style is known as “Ground and Pound”, which is his preferred offense in mixed martial arts. Ground and Pound is a method in which a fighter uses his wrestling skills by immediately taking his opponent down to the mat; then establishing a top and dominant position and then successively striking his opponent. In conjunction with his wrestling background, Couture has displayed a variety of disciplines in the rink including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and has submitted a few opponents with the use of various chokeholds.
